Mark Frogoso, vice president and group CISO at Mynt, the largest Fintech company in the Philippines and the operator of the No. 1 e-wallet in the country - GCash, says that IoT and cloud technologies, digital transformation, digital realities, AI/ML and quantum computing are the technology trends that hold the most promise.

"There have been a lot of improvements in this past year to leverage quantum computing in a better way. We know that the power of encryption will become obsolete with quantum computing. We need to think of the next version of encryption," he says.

"So you need to always challenge the status quo. What you know and understand now may no longer be the case in the future and so, continuous improvement is key", he further added.

In an interview with Information Security Media Group as part of the CyberEdBoard's ongoing Profiles in Leadership series, Frogoso discusses:

  • How he entered the field of cybersecurity;
  • The difference between security culture in a bank and in a fintech company;
  • Why he think fintech is the future.

Frogoso oversees all cyber and information security groups within Mynt and its subsidiaries. He is responsible for establishing and maintaining the information security vision, strategy and programs to ensure the organization's assets and data are adequately protected and enable the organization to achieve its business objectives.
