Lessons in Vigilance: Sumo Logic's Cybersecurity ApproachSumo Logic CEO Joe Kim on Navigating the Future of Security Analytics
In the evolving world of cybersecurity, "you sometimes can't really choose exactly what market you're going to be," said Joe Kim, president and CEO of Sumo Logic. It just so happens, he said, that Sumo Logic is "part of both security and observability - incredibly fast-growing markets."
Kim delved into the company's strategic shifts and future priorities after its acquisition by Francisco Partners this year. Sumo Logic is now focusing on key areas such as cloud-native scalability, technological advancements and a customer-centric approach.
In a recent security incident at Sumo Logic, an AWS account was compromised through a compromised credential. Kim emphasized the critical role of regular key rotation - routinely updating cryptographic keys - to secure access to systems or data.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Kim also discussed:
- Fostering collaboration between DevOps and security operations;
- Leveraging natural language query capabilities and predictive analytics within the areas of security and observability;
- The impact of workforce reduction at Sumo Logic.
Kim has more than two decades of operating executive experience in the application, infrastructure and security industries. He is an expert in technology and process standards as well as various industry verticals that align development and engineering vision and strategies to advance corporate business objectives.
