Trustwave Acquires Cenzic

Trustwave has announced the acquisition of Cenzic Inc. The acquisition brings together Cenzic's application security testing technologies with Trustwave's cloud-based application, database and network penetration testing and scanning services. The combination will create an integrated security testing platform designed to help businesses identify and address security weaknesses, thereby helping to reduce threats, Trustwave says.

Cenzic's technologies enable organizations to continuously assess cloud, mobile and Web applications for vulnerabilities. As a result of the acquisition, Trustwave will deliver both static and dynamic security testing as subscription-based services that will help secure applications throughout their lifecycle. Integration of Cenzic solutions with Web application firewalls, including those from Trustwave, offers additional layers of protection, Trustwave says.

Juniper, Verisign Offer DDoS Protection

Juniper Networks has teamed up with Verisign to provide a hybrid solution for DDoS protection. The solution consists of network and application-layer protection provided by Juniper's on-premises DDoS Secure and Verisign's cloud-based DDoS Protection Service. The new hybrid solution adjusts the parameters used for filtering potentially malicious traffic based on the response and performance of the protected applications.

Features of the combined solution include:

  • Real-Time Adaptive Mitigation: Juniper DDoS Secure intelligently monitors the health of protected services and applications that reside in the data center.
  • Joint Collaboration for Enhanced Integration: The companies have entered into an agreement to create a hybrid DDoS offering, intended to enable more automated DDoS protection in environments that span public, private and hybrid clouds.
  • Open Standards for DDoS Protection in Heterogeneous Environments: The companies plan to define and promote open source standards for communication between dedicated, on-premises DDoS mitigation devices and cloud-based solutions.

SAS Unveils Financial Crimes Suite

SAS has introduced a Financial Crimes Suite that's designed to detect potential suspicious activity. A customer due diligence solution within the suite more accurately detects changes in a customer's risk profile, SAS says. Enhanced anti-money laundering and case management capabilities also make it easier to have a complete view of threats across an institution's financial crimes investigation unit.

SAS Financial Crimes Suite uses a visual scenario designer to recommend optimal detection models. The designer assesses the impact of potential scenarios and risk-rating changes. In-memory architecture speeds analysis of real-time testing environments, reducing guesswork through improved model efficiency.
