2012 State of Print Security
To determine how well agencies are securing their printing assets, Information Security Media Group and HP launched the 2012 Print Security Survey. This study, aimed at security leaders within U.S. government agencies of all sizes, had a mission to:
- Determine the most common types of breaches against printing and imaging assets;
- Gauge how well agencies are prepared to prevent and detect these breaches;
- Identify the specific steps government/security leaders can take to improve printing and imaging security.
Survey results break down into three sections, which we will review in this report:
The State of Print Security - How important is print security to our respondents, and what types of security incidents - if any - have they suffered in the past year?
Managing Risks - What are organizations doing to identify and mitigate threats such as hard copies from being stolen from printer trays, or removing secure information from the hard drives of retired devices?
Print Security Agenda - In a panel discussion, experts outline what organizations must do to ensure print and imaging security going forward.
