Lack of telemetry, integrated solutions, relevant skills - these are among the deficits preventing many enterprises from achieving "cybersecurity Nirvana." JR Balaji and Rick Martinez of Dell Technologies outline strategies to address these challenges and attain a more mature cybersecurity posture.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Martinez and Balaji discuss:

  • What it takes to keep a modern enterprise secure;
  • The top challenges, including lack of telemetry, IT hygiene, automation and skills;
  • Major risks to be aware of, including supply chain threats and hardware and firmware vulnerabilities;
  • Key considerations for transitioning from a legacy approach to a Zero Trust Infrastructure.

Balaji has over 20 years of global sales and marketing experience in the IT industry. He is the head of Product for Dell Technologies’ Endpoint Security, Manageability, and Serviceability businesses, which live within the Client Solutions Group Business Unit. He leads a team of global product managers and marketers responsible for developing, launching, and marketing solutions across the portfolio.

Martinez serves as a Senior Distinguished Engineer for Client Solutions at Dell Technologies where his responsibilities include security strategy for Dell PCs focused on trusted and resilient platforms. In addition to his role as a strategist, he is an expert resource in secure development, governance and execution for Dell PCs and pan-Dell secure supply chain efforts. He joined Dell in 1997, and over the next 24 years contributed to security strategy and architecture for BIOS, implementing many fundamental platform security features including Signed Firmware Update (NIST 800-147), TPM, and Trusted Execution Technology.
