Understanding business goals is key to aligning cybersecurity strategies, said Erik Hart, CISO at commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield. Security leaders need to be solution finders who integrate cybersecurity with business operations, he said.

"One of the key things is identifying the communication and how you communicate the things and how does the business work?" Hart said. "I still think the security and the CISO role in the whole team is about finding solutions and finding a way and ultimately managing the levels of risk."
