RSA: "It Was About Solutions"
Flew home on Friday with many event delegates, and common themes were: The show was bigger than in recent years past, and it was better. The best qualified observation was from a leading industry analyst who said, "This year's show wasn't just a lot of noise about security problems; it was more about solutions."
I spent most of my time interviewing industry thought leaders. And, by the way, if you've not done so yet, please check out our RSA Conference coverage, which includes literally scores of audio interviews and video interviews.
Now is a hot time to start or re-start a career in information security, and Tipton talks about the hottest opportunities.
During my last day before the camera, I spoke with a host of insightful experts. These three conversations stand out:
- Terry Austin, CEO, Guardian Analytics. I've interviewed Austin several times on various fraud topics. He knows the faces of fraud well, and he's always a good source for updates on how banking institutions are fighting back. In this conversation, he talks about the heroes, villains and victims of 2011's crimes.
- Michael Cucchi, Sr. Marketing Manager with Akamai, has great insight on DDoS attacks and what organizations can be doing to prevent and detect them. Definitely a case of what you don't know can hurt you.
- Hord Tipton, Executive Director of (ISC)2, discusses the results of his organization's new workforce study and what those results mean for job seekers and employers alike. Needless to say, now is a hot time to start or re-start a career in information security, and Tipton talks about the hottest opportunities.
